Detroit Driven
Detroit Driven was created to tell a unique American story – the revival of a great American city and the visionary people who are making it happen.
I was brought onto the project to develop this unique website accompanying a great team of designers with a strong vision.
A True American Story
The City Is Rising
Until now, no organization exists to tell the story of Detroit’s resurgence on a citywide basis and to national and international audiences. Detroit Driven is that organization. Their mission is to promote civic pride in the City of Detroit, its people, history, culture, economic growth, and resurgence.
Detroit Driven is the bridge between government, small business, entrepreneurs, and community organizations in Detroit, in Michigan, and across the country.
The second version of Detroit Driven’s web design features large images and video. It also has som eslide out pages and other sections of content powered by jQuery goodness.
The focus of the site is to share inspiring chunks of content. Doing this helps create interest in reading the success stories of local entrepreneurs.
The slideout pages were a tricky issue to solve. What happens if a user lands on that page without going through the Home page? Can we navigation through pages within the slide-out? The answer was yes. Always yes. I had to hire some outside help from my developer friend Zerek Welz to solve this problem.
hideshare.js handles the sharing functionality. I added a [shortcode]
so client can put share buttons where they wanted. It is customizable with content, links, and imagery.
Ellis Island Tropical Tea was started with $50 , a teapot, spoon and some tea bags.
“What’s really exciting to us is the opportunity to create jobs for literally thousands of pilots, technicians and assembly folks here in the city.”
Revitalizing Detroit
An American Comeback
A great American comeback is happening now on the streets of Detroit. The neighborhoods of Detroit are filled with success stories powered by the sweat, grit, creativity, and the tenacity of thousands of determined citizens and their will to succeed.
The people of Detroit are coming together to build a better and stronger future by getting down to the business of hard work, tough decisions, and teamwork.
